Shakespalin: The Bard of Wasilla

For those of you who may have missed it, Sarah Palin tweeted the following a few days ago in response to a community center and mosque planned near Ground Zero:

“Ground Zero Mosque supporters: doesn’t it stab you in the heart, as it does ours throughout the heartland? Peaceful Muslims, pls refudiate.”

When fellow twits tweeters called her out for the use of “refudiate,” she responded:

“‘Refudiate,’ ‘misunderestimate,’ ‘wee-wee’d up.’ English is a living language. Shakespeare liked to coin new words too. Got to celebrate it!”

That opened up the floodgates. Check out the #shakespalin hashtag. The Wall Street Journal chimes in with some additional clever mashups.

My first reactions was: “A proofreader, a proofreader, my kingdom for a proofreader.” But, upon reflection, I reconsidered:

Now is the winner of our discontempt, made glorious fodder by that stunning dork.
