I just read the first book in the series. I really enjoyed it. It was sold to me as a cross between Law & Order and a Dan Brown book and I felt like that was only partially true – it certainly had elements from both (mystery, plot twists, relationship dynamics, crime, romance) but it also took time to develop the plot in a way that Law & Order can’t with its time constraints… and the writing was much better than Dan Brown. Sorry, Dan Brown!

I have a hold on the second book at the library. But like you say, the hoopla! the hoopla!

I’m not sure if I want to see the movie adaptation of The Girl with the Dragon Tattoo. Maybe after I’ve read all the books. Right now I don’t even want to know what actors play the characters. So don’t tell me!
